Our Story

Grant writing is the process of writing a proposal to request financial or in-kind support from a grantmaker. Grantmakers can be corporations, foundations, governments, or trusts.

What's involved in grant writing?

  • Planning: Plan the project and research possible grants
  • Writing: Write a proposal that persuades the reader to fund the project
  • Packaging: Package the proposal and submit it to the funder
  • Follow-up: Follow up with the funder to report on how the grant funding was used

What makes a good grant proposal?

  • Clear language: Use clear, specific language to focus the reader's attention
  • Compelling narrative: Weave a compelling narrative with persuasive data, budgets, and scopes of work
  • Resonant vision: Articulate a vision that resonates with the funders
